Have you ever felt like you needed another vacation after returning from one? If you answered yes, and are reading this, you are trying to figure out how to avoid that feeling ever again.

1. Planning too many activities in one day

We understand that you want to be able to see all the most-visited sites and visit the Instagram photo opportunities. However, if you are only spending about a week in a new place, the truth is, you might not see it all.

What to do: Select which items you want to see and spread them throughout the day.

Pro tip: Be sure to check which sites are near one another to see multiple in one day.

2. Not taking the time to relax

Stop. Take it all in. If you want to avoid feeling like an old shoe, learn to sit and relax. Find a comfortable spot where you can take in the views and appreciate where you are.

What to do: Plan meal times in your day so you can sit at a café or restaurant. Plan a day where you stay inside, or have minimal activities.

Pro tip: Take a bus or train tour. You get to sit and relax while still getting the chance to explore your vacation destination.

3. Over packing

Do you really need that extra pair of shoes? Overpacking can lead to a lot of stress. You constantly ask yourself, "what if I need (fill in the blank)."

What to do: Like mistake number 1 suggests, roughly plan out your daily activities. When you have that figured out, you will have a better idea of which must-have items you need.

Pro tip: Plan out your outfits before you travel. Try matching your shoes with them, as it helps cut down on bulkiness.

4. Under packing

Have you ever wished you had packed that extra item? To avoid that, we give the same advice as over-packing.

What to do: Try planning out your days and pre-plan your outfits! This way, you are less likely to forget any items.

Pro tip: Pack a professional outfit in case any last-minute event pops up.

5. Not reflecting while on vacation

You know those quotes that say to learn from the mistakes of others. With traveling, it's good to learn from our own mistakes.

What to do: At about mid-way through your trip, sit down and ask yourself, what is working? What could make the trip a little better? And adjust accordingly- it's never too late to change the outcome of your vacation!

Pro tip: Keep a traveling journal to reflect on your journeys. It's a helpful way of working towards that perfect vacation.
