Over the course of 10 unforgettable days, we immersed ourselves in the rich history, culture, and cuisine of this stunning country. If you're curious to know more about our adventure, read on for all the details!
Day 1 : The Adventure Begins
To make the most of our time in Italy, we decided to travel overnight and arrive in the morning. After dropping off our luggage at the hotel, we wasted no time and headed into the city.
Our first mission of the day was to find some authentic Italian cuisine, so we set out to a nearby pastry shop for breakfast. As we enjoyed our meal, we discussed plans for the day and decided to seek out a local mall. We decided to navigate the public transportation system and hopped aboard our first European bus. As the city passed by outside our window, we relished the opportunity to experience the culture and daily life of the Italian people.
Day 2 : From Cappuccinos to the Vatican
As we set out for our second day in Italy, we were excited to immerse ourselves in the local culture and try our hand at speaking Italian. Our first opportunity came as we stopped at a nearby café for breakfast before heading to the Vatican, our destination for the day.
Our visit to Vatican City was a highlight of our Italian adventure. To ensure we didn't miss a thing, we went on a guided tour that provided us with a fascinating glimpse into the rich history and culture. Our tour guide pointed out hidden gems and little-known facts, making us appreciate the incredible artifacts and works of art on a whole new level. The crown jewel of our visit was the Sistine Chapel, where we were amazed by the breathtaking beauty and sheer talent of the masterful artists who created such stunning works. If you visit Italy, don't miss the opportunity to experience this incredible piece of history for yourself.
Day 3 : Relaxing and Recharging
After two days of non-stop adventure and a long flight to Italy, we were starting to feel the effects of fatigue on Day 3. Recognizing that it was important to take care of ourselves, we made the decision to take a much-needed break. It was a welcome opportunity to rest and recharge, and to reflect on the incredible experiences we already had.
Italy's vibrant culinary scene was a constant source of delight throughout our trip, and one of the things I loved most was the way they reimagined dishes from other cultures with an Italian twist. We were thrilled to discover that even a Poke bowl could be transformed with the addition of delicious Italian ingredients like Ragu, pesto, and melt-in-your-mouth mozzarella. The result was a fusion of flavors and textures that was uniquely Italian and utterly delicious.
Day 4 : Discovering Rome's Gems
After a much-needed day of rest, we were ready to hit the streets of Rome and see some of the city's most iconic sights. Our stroll took us to the magnificent Pantheon, where we marveled at its towering columns and rich history. From there, we made our way to the breathtaking Trevi Fountain. We also took the opportunity to visit a few stunning churches, each one more beautiful than the last. It was a day filled with awe-inspiring architecture, delicious food, and unforgettable moments that will stay with us forever.
Day 5 : Florence In A Day
On the fifth day of our Italian adventure, we embarked on a day trip to the beautiful city of Florence. Our itinerary was packed with visits to some of the city's most iconic landmarks, including the Boboli Gardens and the breathtaking Piazzale Michelangelo. As we strolled along the scenic Viale Giuseppe Poggi, we marveled at the stunning views of the city below us. Our day in Florence concluded with a visit to the world-famous Uffizi Gallery, where we were left in awe of the incredible art and culture that Florence has to offer.
Day 6 : Taking It Easy
Following our busy day trip, we choose a more relaxed day. We indulged in a leisurely breakfast while observing the bustling activity around us, before making our way to the charming Sant 'Agnese in Agone church and the magnificent Fiumi Fountain.
Day 7: From Rome to Napoli
We embarked on another exciting day trip on Day 7, this time to the charming city of Napoli, with a stop at the awe-inspiring Pompeii. The ruins of Pompeii were vast, so we carefully selected a few spots to visit, including the Garden of the Fugitives. Later on, we returned to the city for a seafood risotto dinner.
Day 8 : Uncovering the History of Rome
After a bit of a wait, we finally made it to the Colosseum! Our excitement was dampened when we realized you couldn't buy tickets on site and had to purchase them online. However, we managed to secure some tickets and were thrilled to explore this iconic monument.
Day 9 : The Famous Arches
Visiting St. Peter's Basilica was an absolute must during our trip to Italy. The beauty of this iconic site left us speechless, both inside and out. However, getting in required some patience and time. We highly suggest arriving early in the morning to beat the crowds and avoid a long wait.
Day 10 : Farewell Italia
On our final day in Italy, we made a stop at a local Italian candy shop located near the Piazza di Spagna square. While we admired the famous Spanish Steps from afar, we indulged in some mouthwatering gelato and delectable cookies from a nearby vendor.
